COLUMBUS, OH -- (MARKET WIRE) – 6/17/09 – Will the government do a better job running General Motors than the previous management? 47.5% of consumers say no, according to the June 2009 Consumer Intentions & Actions (CIA) Survey of 8,635 participants from BIGresearch (http://www.bigresearch.com). However, 34% say they don’t know while 18.5% think that the Federal Government will do more good for the automaker. On the other hand, people planning to buy a vehicle in the next six months have higher hopes for the new leadership:

As the
newly crowned majority owner of GM, the U.S. Government doesn’t seem to be doing
the automaker any favors among consumers in general. 46.1% say they are
unlikely/not at all likely to consider GM with the U.S Government at the helm.
However, there appears to be a bright spot among those consumers planning to buy
a vehicle. 27.8% of auto buyers say they are likely/very likely to consider a GM
with the government in control, almost doubling the 14.2% of adults 18+ who say
the same.
